Good Day Terrestrial Tribe,

Today we joined together with Captain Deb onboard the Asteria, bound for the eastern perimeter of Midbank.  We initiated our valiant search for cetacean mist on the horizon.  Despite the high caliber of sightings on the previous day, the unpredictability of nature made itself evident with the sparsity of blows.  We were pleased to stumbled across four elusive minke whales who made for brief encounters.  The water boiled with fishy life during our search, indicating the presence of whale food.  After several long moments we were rewarded with the recognizable exhalation of a humpback whale!

We found fortune with this whale as it swam slowly under the surface, exhibiting the enormity of its vast pectoral flippers.  The fluke eventually manifested itself, revealing the whale as Timberline!  This is a personal favorite of mine from the 2014 season, and the mega-sized mammal left behind a formidable cloud of brown scat upon initiating a sounding dive.  Another enigmatic whale was in the vicinity, and it revealed a dark fluke before disappearing into the deep blue.

Today was a splendid day on the ocean, and a Happy Independence Day to all!

Peace and Love,

Rich
